We were ice-fishing between North Bass and Middle Bass Islands just before
dark last night and I heard and then saw two large groups of blackbirds pass
overhead. We have been getting red-winged blackbirds at our island feeders
the last week now.

Also heard snow buntings pass overhead. When returning to South Bass Island
after dark, we saw a small bird fly off the snow and ice in front of us. Snow
Bunting?

Our friends from North Bass reported seeing about ten turkey vultures and a
killdeer yesterday.

Maybe the birds know spring is coming? Sure doesn't look like it here!
