This morning (9:30 am) I stopped by Evans Lake in eastern Mahoning County. The lake was hopping with ducks, loons and grebes. One Red-throated Loon was seen near the dam! 6 Red-necked Grebes were swimming close to one another! Twenty Horned Grebes were seen and two Common Loons. Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks and Red-breasted Mergs were in good numbers. A scope is necessary to get good views. The best viewing is from the east side of the lake.
The rain hasn't arrived yet so I hope these birds stick around.
