Clear Creek MP was pretty quiet but I still picked up my FOS N Parula (great looks), Black & White (heard), Black-throated Green (heard), Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, & Field Sparrow. Only other warbler was a spiffy breeding plumage Yellow-rumped. E Phoebes & numerous E Towhees (v vocal) as well. Flyby Pileated WP.

The best find of the morning was a Red Fox carrying a prey item. I wondered if it had a den that it was taking the food to b/c it took a very circuitous route, stopping & looking around several times, putting the food down then picking it up again before finally disappearing into thick cover not far from the creek. Nice OH mammal for me, plus it's been yrs since I've seen one.

I ventured south to explore the Zaleski SF area & Lake Hope--both new areas for me. Given the summer-like temps, the birding was slow but I had a couple Wild Turkeys cross the road and nice looks at a Red-headed WP at the lodge. I also got my FOS Spring Azure BF there as well as a small sulphur sp.

I stopped at Wahkeena on the way back & added FOS Yellow-throated Warbler & La Waterthrush. The waterthrush set an altitude record, perching on a limb 25' above the ground singing its heart out & dipping its tail. Flyover of a single Broad-winged Hawk & a close Green Heron. Other species there:
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Wood Duck (pair)
Pied-billed Grebe
Slate-colored Junco
White-throated Sparrows (at least 2)
Carolina Wren
B-G Gnat
E Phoebe

Yet another OH mammal: Beaver

Lovely day to be out, if a bit warm.
