Chris Collins, Jacob Roalef and Eric Elvert found and photographed at least two Smith's Longspurs in a corn stubble field on Hill Road west of Rockford, Ohio, this morning. Loosely associating with 1700 Lapland Longspurs and many Horned Larks. They secured land owner permission to enter field. This is the same area that Dan G and I had 88 Smith's in April 2013. Permission must be acquired to enter fields! They spent time only on one field--there are untold many other possible fields in the border counties that are suitable for this species. Corn stubble no more then 2 feet high, with weeds and foxtail grass within rows, fields must be large
