Rainy days aren't most birders first choice of weather for birding.
However, American Golden-Plovers are often brought down to agricultural
fields during rain. During "bluebird-sky" days, plovers often are migrating
high and far.
The county roads south of Killdeer Plains W. A. south of and parallel to
county road 68 are often productive for Am. golden-plovers during rainy
days. On several times multiple hundreds of plovers have been seen at
fields south of Killdeer Plains.
So, grab a cup of coffee and get out there and drive some roads in
agricultural areas of western Ohio. Madison County also has a history of
getting Am. golden plovers.
Good birding,
John Herman
