Yesterday and today I searched for the Mississippi Kite(s) on Reed Road in
notheastern Knox County without success. However, I was able to get very
good looks at the Common Raven which has been seen by many observers for at
least the past two years. The raven was on Reed Road and was seen on both
days across the road from the large dairy farm. It frequents a row of trees
in the middle of hay and corn fields and perches on one of the dead snags
along this narrow corridor of trees. Reed Road is a short road and the dairy
farm is situated in the middle of a valley about 1/2 mile across. One can
park on the high ground on either end of the valley for good observation of
the entire area.
