I checked Evans L. and Pine L. today.  The strong winds made for whitecaps and difficult viewing.  Highlights at Evans L. :  lesser scaup, buffleheads, red-breasted mergansers, ruddy ducks, pied-billed grebes, horned grebes, RED-NECKED GREBE, 17 common loons, great blue heron, osprey, and tree swallows.  Pine L. had:  gadwalls, Am. black ducks, blue-winged teal, n. shovelers, green-winged teal, lesser scaup, c. goldeneye, hooded mergansers, common mergansers, 80 red-breasted mergansers, ruddy ducks, 140 double-crested cormorants, 4 great egrets, Cooper's hawk, Am. coots, belted kingfisher, and tree swallows.  Craig Holt, Poland Twp.
