A few of us birded a couple places in Clark County this morning.

At Buck Creek State Park there were 5 Surf Scoters seen from the north end
of the beach and from the marina. Two of them were breeding plumaged males.
There were also over 20 Common Loons, many in breeding plumage. We saw 5
Red-necked Grebes scattered over the lake. There were also several species
of ducks on the lake. Red-breasted Mergansers and Lesser Scaup were the
dominant species today. At the north end of the lake we saw an adult Lesser
Black-backed Gull but while we were watching it, it took off to the north
and appeared to leave the area. Two Caspian Terns were also at the north end
of the lake.

Then we drove to Runyan Road which is a short road that runs from Tarbutton
Road to Route 54. This is east of Buck Creek State Park and north of Clark
Lake. We again saw the white Red-tailed Hawk that we first saw on 1/12/14.
We got great looks at it as if flew over. All of the feathers looked white
except for two to four center tail feathers that were red. It is a very
striking bird.

At Clark Lake, a Great Egret flew over.
