Friday, April 11 - 9:30 to 11 a.m.

What a great morning for waterfowl at the East and North Metroparks.
Many of the grebes were in breeding plumage--beautiful!

East Metropark:

    Red-necked grebes - 12
    Horned grebes - 6+
    Ring-necked ducks
    Lesser scaups
    Blue-winged teals
    Ruddy ducks
    American coots
    Hooded mergansers
    Northern shovelers
    Buffleheads
    Gadwalls
    Mallards
    Canada geese
    Tree, barn, and rough-winged swallows
    Turkey vultures
    Red-shouldered hawk - up close and personal
    Field, song, tree, and white-throated  sparrows

North Park:

    Pied-billed grebes
    Buffleheads
    Green- and blue-winged teals
    American coots
    Great blue heron
    Red-winged blackbirds
    Song sparrow
    Tree, barn, and rough-winged swallows
    Brown-headed cowbirds
    Canada geese
    Mallards
    Turkey vultures
    American crows

At Aullwood Gardens Metropark, Monte Mercer reported 3 yellow-throated
warblers along with several yellow-rumped warblers.  Also a great egret  along
the Stillwater River at the entrance to Aullwood Gardens walkway.
