As far as I know, the Kirtland's warbler was not found after around 11:30.
We looked for it until almost 2:00. Most of the migrants quieted down
around 11:30 and it was mostly nesting birds calling after that. We had
some great numbers of birds out there. Yellow warblers and catbirds were in
huge numbers. We had well over 150 yellow warblers and well over 100
catbirds. We also had at least 4 yellow-breasted chats. I did get one
lousy photo of the Kirtland's.
Other birds of note were northern harrier and merlin. For those birding the
park, the northwest corner of the field can be excellent in early morning.
The warblers will feed along the edge of the sunlit woods there and there
are a lot of migrants flying over the shoreline in that area also. There
were a few hawks moving including the harrier, a few red-tails, a
red-shouldered, Osprey, and a couple Cooper's. Most of the birds were
immature birds.
