Following the storm tonight, a nice variety of warbler showed up on our property this morning. Before breakfast, between rain showers and lightning, a Canada Warbler sang and showed its streaked necklace in our Honey Locust Tree-- a life bird from the yard! Later, a Wilson's (singing), Yellow-Rumped, and Yellow (singing) were all hanging out in the Burr Oak, and a male Blackpoll gave good looks at its chickadee-like head and un-chickadee-like slim and streaked body. It took me some consultation of Sibley's guide to figure out that another duller warbler was a female Blackpoll, its yellow legs helped to ID. And, a beautiful male singing Cape May Warbler in our spruce tree was the second life bird for me this morning!
