Tom Sheley, Bill Heck and I located a Purple Gallinule at Big Island yesterday around dusk. Distance and low light prevented pictures, but the bird was seen well. It was foraging near coots and common gallinules at the west end of the western impoundment along LaRue Prospect road.

Earlier in the afternoon, we had a good assortment of shorebirds at Killdeer plains. 5 Willets, 2 White-rumped Sandpipers, and the 5 previously reported Wilson's Phalaropes (with many others) were along TH 68 in pond 27 and the flooded fields to the south.

God birding,
Steve Landes
