I spent several hours between these 2 parks this morning, dodging rain squalls looking for migrants. The day was a good one for thrushes, and moderate for warblers and flycatchers. Be forewarned that the footbridge is closed at Woodside Green, cutting off access across Big Walnut Creek. (I wound up driving between Woodside Green and Academy Parks.) Included among the species were

Red-shouldered Hawk - 1 adult along Beech Loop at Blacklick
Barred Owls - at least 3 along trails at Blacklick (there are 3 pairs nesting in park now)
Ruby-thr.Hummingbirds - singles at each park
Wood Pewees - 1 at BlacklickWoods, 2 along Big Walnut Creek at Woodside Green
Acadian Flycatchers - 2 on territory at Blacklick, another calling at Woodside Green
E.Phoebes - 2-3 at each park (they nest at both)
Gr.CrestedFlycatchers - 3+ at each park
White-eyed Vireo - 1 singing near Ash Grove parking lot at Blacklick
Red-eyed Vireos - fair #s singing at each park: 5 at Blacklick, 3 at Woodside Green
Wood Thrushes - 6-8 along trails at Blacklick, with many making defensive calls as if on territory
Swainson's Thrush - modest fallout, with 12+ at Blacklick, 8+ at Woodside Green
Gray-cheeked Thrush - 1 at Blacklick Woods along Buttonbush Trail
Hermit Thrush - 1 late individual at Woodside Green
Yellow Warbler - 1 singing near Nature Center at Blacklick
Parula Warblers - 2 were singing at Woodside Green
