Greetings all -
The ROCK WREN (2nd state record) in HOLMES CO. continued to put on a show today for many observers. Robert Hershberger saw the wren at his neighbor's house, 6888 CR 77, Saltcreek Twp., Holmes Co. at 1:10 p.m. It then flew back towards Hostetler Wood, which is up the hill and on the west side of the road. Birders are welcome at this new location as well, but please be mindful of where you park and do NOT block road access. ***Also, the property owners request NO Sunday visits. Please respect this.****
No very recent reports of NEOTROPIC CORMORANT, however, it is very possible that this bird may still frequent the Sulphur Creek Estuary/Pipe Creek Wildlife Area immediate waterways.
The Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge TRICOLORED HERON was present this afternoon in the NW corner of pool 8A in the company of several dozen Great Egrets. Information and maps can be obtained at the ONWR visitor center.
Dan Gesualdo found around 30 WILLETS at Sandusky County airport this morning, then 40+ Willets at Pipe Creek Wildlife Area. Since both locations are close by, it's possible that some of these were the same individuals moving around. Pipe Creek held LEAST BITTERNS and Vic Fazio located a BLACK TERN here this afternoon.
Haans Petruschke reports several FISH CROWS at Headlands Beach State Park today.
Julie Heitz had a male BLUE GROSBEAK at a feeder in Toledo.
SUMMER TANAGER and CLAY-COLORED SPARROW were briefly present in Huron today.
