I roamed through several areas southeast of Columbus, focusing on the areas between the trash dump and Harrisberg, with keys stops at Youngs Rd (along the western edge of the trash dump), Pleasant Valley (a Battelle-Darby MetroPark access in Harrisburg), and Grassle Rd (a hunting access west of Darbydale. Humidity was uncomfortably high, but cloudy sky and steady breeze kept it bearable. Best birds were

Prairie Warbler - 1 was singing at Grassle Rd, one of a very few summer records along Darby Creek. This is an overgrown remnant Cedar bald, which makes it almost-perfect habitat for them

Dickcissels - at least 2 were singing along Youngs Rd, between St. 752 and the I-71 overpass

Grasshopper Sparrows - 3-4 were singing in cloverfields along Youngs Rd in the same vicinity as the Dickcissels

Savannah Sparrows - 2 singing along Youngs Rd completed the grasslands trifecta. Couldn't find any Vespers, though.

Yellow-billed Cuckoos - singles were singing at Pleasant Valley and at Grassle Rd
