Thanks go out to The Henry Troyer Jr. Family for being gracious hosts at the previously mentioned Black Rail site, at 31642 TR231, in extreme northeast Coshocton County. Son John David Troyer was an excellent guide, taking us right to the Black Rail hay field location. During our visit, we believe we were hearing two rails calling, one to the right, and one to the left. Consulting with several birders from the previous day, they had the same thoughts. When we departed The Troyer's front porch at about 11AM, we were informed they planned to continue mowing and bailing at about 3PM this afternoon, Tuesday. They were not going to mow any of the areas where Black Rail calls had been heard. John David informed us that at 7PM tonight, he planned on trying to see and hear the elusive rail or rails once again. Visitors are welcome. Be aware if traveling to the area, there is a second, different, TR231, three miles to the east, in nearby Tuscarawas County.

Bob and Denise Lane / Mahoning County
