I spent the morning visiting locations around the north end of Hoover reservoir, in the area of the Hoover nature Preserve. I made stops at Mudhen Marsh, Oxbow Island, Char=Mar Preserve, Wiese Rd, and Areas M&N & the Boardwalk. Water Level is ridiculously high thanks to recent rains, so shorebirds and even herons were scarce. Best birds were as noted in the subject line:

Caspian Terns - 3 flew by the boardwalk while I was there. All adults, so no telling where they came from (or were going to)

Cuckoos - Yellow-billeds were singing both at Wiese Rd and Area N, places where they've summered before.

ProthonotaryWarblers - still singing at many places. The high water may be keeping them territorial.

Parula Warbler - an adult was feeding a begging fledgling at Area N

YellowWarblers - almost as common as Prothonotaries in many locations. Adults feeding fledglings at Mudhen & at Wiese

Most of the other birds were about what you might expect at this time of year.
