It is presently 7:55AM, Thursday morning, at "The Conneaut Sandspit", in Ashtabula County. The previously reported Red Knot is continuing its visit. I arrived at 6:35AM to a beautiful sunrise. Some of the other birds of interest this morning are: 32+ Bald Eagles (5 adults & 27 juveniles), 2 Greater Yellowlegs, 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, 8 Semipalmated Plovers, 1 continuing Northern Shoveler, and 1 Forster's Tern. Unreported by others yesterday at "The Sandpit", were 5 Willets and 2 Baird's Sandpipers. The Red Knot seems to favor being at the back corner of the east end of the main beach pool. Bob Krajeski and I, along with several photographers, have the place to ourselves. Setup for this weekends D-Day Reenactment, is taking place at the public beach to the west. Be aware that most likely, there will be no vehicular access to the sandspit on Friday, Saturday, and possibly Sunday.

Bob Lane / Mahoning County
