Let's start in Geauga and make our voices heard. How many Ohio Birders can attend one or more of the Town Hall meetings? What questions do you want answered? If you are not a Geauga resident and not permitted to speak, give me your comments. I thinks Kim's idea of a Conservation Action Alert is vital to the preservation of our natural areas in this state. We have to speak up and we have to show up at meetings. We need to band together before we go the way of the passenger pigeon. Do we have any attorneys on Ohio Birds? Any really good speakers? Getting our people together and teaching them to be activists ( remember the 60s ) and leave a better place for flora, fauna, and people is not something to be afraid of. We all have issues in our own counties but we can pool our resources to fight these battles. We can be as effective as the dirt bikers and ATV riders. But we have to speak up. I need people to quote , like Hans and Bob, if they will tell me what I can use, for possible interviews with local papers. We in Geauga can pass on the problems in Cuyahoga County and Lake County and Mahoning County as examples of what can go wrong to our county officials and the public. Get the public records from your park district and see what the boards can and cannot do. Lets start getting a list of conservation groups to start out this Action Alert. My husband is a retired lawyer and he managed many cases using expert witnesses who were well prepared to defend positions. We can be expert witnesses for the environment and prepare ourselves to testify . OK that is the pep talk.
