The ponds at Mercer Wildlife area had a nice variety of shorebirds this afternoon. There were over 30 Least and about half as many Semipalmated Sandpipers, several Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, a Pectoral and a Stilt Sandpiper. A Forster’s Tern was also present.

The spillway at Grand Lake had a Sanderling in addition to two Killdeer.

All ponds except two are filled with water at the fish hatchery. The two without water were completely dry, so other than a few Killdeer, did not have shorebirds. One Caspian Tern was with the Ring-billed Gulls on the grass.
