There are many construction projects being done on the trails at Ottawa NWR. Some of these are responsible for the great shorebird habitat currently available and they will improve the future habitat management capabilities.  

However, this means there will be intermittent closures of the trails. Please check the maps posted at the trail heads or ask in the visitor center to find out which trails are currently closed.

</div>We took an evening walk to the pools at Ottawa NWR and was not
disappointed.  We saw 2 Marbled Godwits on the SE side of pool 2C .  We
saw a Hudsonian Godwit and Stilted Sandpipers in pool 2A by the inlet to
pool 2B.  On our way back, we saw a Red-necked Phalarope at the NE side
of pool 2C.  The Wilson Phalaropes we located on pool MS8B yesterday
were not there today.  There are great numbers of shore birds
everywhere.  Who know what we'll see tomorrow.
