I was with a group of people viewing the Egret - from outside the fence - from about 10:00 - 10:30 this morning. We had no issues with security, presumably because we stayed outside the fence. I'm actually rather surprised that they had included birding and other activities as potentially permissible here. In other places that I've lived, water-storage reservoirs have mostly been off-limits for just about any use, mostly because of potential patrolling issues. One of the other above-ground reservoirs in this vicinity - the one off Liberty Rd south of Delaware - is also off-limits to the public. Here, we had distant, but sufficient looks at the Egret, and had quite a few other birds as well, mostly cormorants. I also stopped at the ponds down by Mooney Rd, and had Great Blue Heron, Great Egret, and a big flock of waterfowl - mostly Mallard, but some Blue-winged Teal as well. If we can continue to have some access to these surrounding ponds, and they are left unmolested, I think they may prove as interesting as the reservoir.
