This MetroPark in south Columbus had a surge of bird activity in the early morning, then quickly tapered off after 10:00. I visited an arc of sites along the main bikepath, from Heron Pond, down through the Borrow Pits and Confluence area, then over to Cruiser Pond, the Groveport Blacklick bikepath, and Winchester Lake. Most of the landbird migrants seemed clustered in the larger forest blocks of the Confluence area and Borrow Pits. Water levels in the ponds were too high for much wader or shorebird activity. Notables included:

Great Egrets - 2 were around Winchester Lake, while another was at Cruiser Pond
Wood Ducks - small #s around most ponds, but the Borrow Pits had over 20.
Turkey Vultures - small #s at many locations, topped by 30+ roosting near Heron Pond
Sharp-shinned Hawk - an immature at Heron Pond was almost certainly a migrant.
Red-shouldered Hawk - one was calling near the Confluence area, towards the lower part of Blacklick Creek.
Flycatchers - E.WoodPewees widespread, but also had 3 calling Acadian flycatchers around the Confluence area
Vireos - Warbling widespread, with singing birds at many locations. Also had 2 White-eyed near the Borrow Pits, and single yellow-throated and Red-eyed.
Swallows - Small groups of Rough-winged were at both Heron Pond and at Cruiser Pond
Wrens,Gnatcatcher - House Wrens & Carolina Wrens common at many spots. No Gnatcatchers still around here.
Thrushes - 2-3 Swainson's were in the forest blocks at the Confluence and Borrow Pits areas. The former site also had a Wood Thrush and several E.Bluebirds
CedarWaxwings - good #s, with flocks of 40-60 at several ponds and river bridges, often flycatching water-hatched insects
Warblers - rather slow morning, with 8 species, none common, including Magnolia, Chesnut-sided, Yellow-throated, Black&White, Ovenbird, Redstart, CommonYellowthroat, and Wilson's
Tanager,Buntings - a Scarlet Tanager female was around Turtle Pond, while calling Indigo Buntings were at several spots.
Icterids - small flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds in several spots, along with single Common Grackles.
