I came downstairs this morning and looked out the backyard window and my eyes were a little blurry because I had been reading the Sunday paper. But the shape of and stance of a bird on the birdbath on the ground didn't look right for a House Finch. It's head was tall and erect. I tried to reach for my binoculars or camera still in my bags and it flew off. I left the room for a couple minutes and when I came back there on the ground under my black oil seed tube feeder was a female Purple Finch feeding. I am lucky if I get one sighting a winter in my northeastern Cuyahoga county suburb. It did stand on the stick/branch pile under the tree a few times and was on the taller tree branches looking around for awhile. It left and came back twice. Trying to do other things not sure if it will come back. Seen from 8:45 to 9:10am. Two purple finches in two days.
