Hello All... Earlier today Steve Landes found and reported 5 female/immature Black Scoters at Alum Creek Reservoir in Delaware County. Just to let everyone know that on our way back from Lake Erie, we stopped there at sunset and re-found these 5 Scoters on the water at some distance from the swimming beach, near the middle of the lake and somewhat to the North. Closer to the dam was a large raft of American Coots in a long line of maybe 150 or more birds. Slightly to the N of the Coots were 20 or so Ruddy Ducks and a few Mallards, and then the 5 scoters. During scope (required) looks, they took flight and flew toward the dam, then back North before landing in the same area where I originally found them. Fortunately, during this flight, they came even closer to us for better looks. I'd guess that they will still be there tomorrow morning, if any of you are able to try for them. This species is usually found on Lake Erie and so is a very good bird for
inland reservoirs and for Central Ohio.

Good Birding,
Dan Sanders
