At least three, and possibly a fourth, Greater White-fronted Geese on Wed., Oct. 15 at Hebron Fish Hatchery, just around the corner from the Red Phalarope at Buckeye Lake. The phalarope was seen as of 1:00, and there was only one at that time. The geese were seen between 11:30 and 12:30. From the North Shore Boat Ramp at Buckeye Lake, turn left onto Route 79, go about 2 miles, and turn right onto Canal Road. You’ll see the fish containment ponds as you approach the hatchery entrance. Pull off and scan through the fence. Although you are permitted to park in the visitor parking lot and walk the dikes, you would almost certainly flush all the geese by doing so. Scope helpful, but not necessary, to see the geese, which were resting on one of the dikes with some Canada geese, Mallards and Ring-billed Gulls.
