I traveled to Deer Creek with the intent of birding the overlooks on state
park road #5. The barrier had not been pulled away. So I birded the
reservoir from the dam and beach up to the Miller Road picnic area where
ever there was access.

Loads of Bonies - over 1000, Ring-billed and a few Herring Gulls. Common
Loons - 23, Horned Grebes - 7, Red-necked Grebe - 1, Ruddy Ducks - 17,
Mallards - 5, a pair of Lesser Scaup, Pied-billed Grebes - 3, Hooded
Mergansers - 10, Great Blue Herons seen from the Miller Road picnic area -
20. There were ducks/grebes/loons? along the cliffs of park road #5 that I
could see from a distance but not make out.

I called the park office and was told that employees talked about moving
the barrier this morning but there was a water leak somewhere that must
have side-tracked them. I reiterated that we birders really appreciate
them opening up the road to us on Mondays. Linda, who answered the phone,
told me she would make sure they got the message.
