I made stops at several parks south of Columbus this morning, including 3-Creeks Park, Haul Rd quarries, and Scioto Audubon Park, looking for late migrants and early waterfowl, but with very limited success. Most of these locations were surprisingly quiet, despite the beautiful day after a weather change. Among the few notables were

cormorants - 20 were still fishing in the Scioto river above Greenlawn dam
grebes - hardly anything, with 1 Pied-bill at Haul Rd
accipiters - a Cooper's was calling at the Confluence area, while a Sharpie was soaring over the Borrow Pits of 3-Creeks
gulls - flocks of Ring-bills were on mudflats at both Haul Rd (70) and Scioto Audubon (150), but nothing was with them
kinglets - hardly any left here, with single Ruby-crowned & Golden-crowned at 3-Creeks
E.Bluebirds - a bright spot, with small flocks totalling 17 birds moving through the Confluence area of 3-Creeks early
Starlings - huge flocks were roaming the German Village area east of Scioto, feasting on Bradford Pear street trees
CedarWaxwings - no big flocks other than 20 birds around the Borrow Pits at 3-Creeks
Yellow-rumped Warblers - small numbers at many locations, mostly near poison ivy berries
Chipping Sparrows - a small flock of 5 were around the Confluence picnic area at 3-Creeks
FoxSparrow - 1 was singing along the Blacklick bikepath at the east edge of the Confluence area of 3-Creeks
Redwings - small flocks of 2-10 flying south over 3-Creeks for much of the early morning
PineSiskin - 1 was in the pines around the Confluence picnic area at 3-Creeks
