I was following up several teams on the CBC in checking out areas along Alum Creek on the east side of Columbus. I started along the Alum Creek bikepath, then worked north to Innis Park and Tanager Woods. Lots of birds were out in the warm weather, but nothing terribly unusual. The CBC teams over a week ago found Great Horned & Barred Owls, but I whiffed on both this morning. Highlights included:

hawks - Cooper's and Red-tails were at Innis and Tanager Woods
woodpeckers - many of the usuals - Red-bellies, Downies, Hairies - plus a good # of Flickers
BrownCreepers - good #s, with 1-2 at nearly every stop; Innis Park had 3
wrens - no Winters, but lots of Carolinas (3-4 at each stop)
Fruit-eaters - low # of berries produced few Robins, 2 Cedar waxwings, and no bluebirds.
Kinglet - only 1 Golden-crowned, in a tiny stand of cedars at the Innis Rd bridge
Yellow-rumped Warblers - only one flock of 3, at Tanager Woods
Sparrows - nothing but White-throats, Songs, & Juncos, but good #s of all 3
Finches - small #s of House finches and Goldfinches, livened by 1 Pine Siskin at Tanager Woods
