I thought some ohio-birds readers might be interested in this Florida
tale, passed along by my brother Pete, who lives there now. The unspoken
subtext is that this western owl--unlikely ever to show up in Florida
again, especially as a carefully identified captive--will one hopes be
released, and for a few moments seen free and unrestrained, so that a
large gang of Florida facebook "birders" will have a guaranteed
opportunity to see it, "identify" it, and add it to their "lists." Who
can blame the local rehabilitators for passing a hat among the throng?
Ten bucks is a deal compared to the expenses of schlepping a tent out to
the Rockies.
no harm, no foul, no?
