Ohio Dominican's Ornithology course visited Pickerington Ponds this morning. We started looking out over frozen Ellis Pond from the park/naturalist office area, then walked Yellowlegs Trail up to Killdeer Trail and then out to Pintail Marsh. Everything was frozen, but we enjoyed a good show of raptors. Highlights:
Rough-legged Hawk: at least 4, most around Pintail Marsh
Red-shouldered Hawk: 1 or 2 young birds
Red-tailed Hawk: multiple
Northern Harrier: 3
American Black Duck: 3 flying over
I put up a few bird pictures here: http://blakemathys.com/pickerington.html
