Hi All,

I moved here at the beginning of the year for work from Salt Lake (I grew
up in Chicago). I ran a birding list-serv, blog, and website back in Utah
with several friends. If any interest, you can check it out at
Utahbirders.com. I haven't had a lot of time to bird but have gotten to a
couple of trips and met some of you. I'm looking forward to getting out
more in the spring and getting involved in some of the groups.

This evening at my apartment complex I got an Ohio lifer AMERICAN WOODCOCK
making its peenting call out in a grassy, wet field under the power lines
following up a KILLDEER last night. I'll take it as a sign of good things
to come in my exploration of Ohio birding. Over the past couple of months
most of my birding has just been around my neighborhood and I've been
nicely surprised at the number of birds I've seen while working often from
home and watching out the windows. The CARDINALS and SONG SPARROWS are now
singing every morning as I wake up. I've had RED-SHOULDERED, RED-TAILED and
COOPER'S HAWKS hunting the large flocks of ROBINS with the occasional
MOCKINGBIRD mixed in. A local GREAT BLUE HERON occasionally stares down at
the little pond onsite here. There are flocks of GOLDFINCHES, CHICKADEES,
and WHITE-THROATED SPARROWS moving about. And downtown where I occasionally
go for meetings I've enjoyed watching the PEREGRINE FALCONS hunting the
pigeons.

Looking forward to some great migrants soon. Back home 10 warblers in a day
was memorable..... as I understand it, that should be in a single tree
round these parts. :)

Good Birding.
