Hi,

Consulting the Ohio Breeding Bird Atlas 2 data will yield some good
information on rare Ohio breeding species. Lake and Geauga counties host
or have hosted several of these. With Merlin, Common Loon, and
Black-throated Blue Warbler being 3 confirmed species. The latter 2 were
first breeding records for Ohio, (although a 2nd Merlin nest was found in
the project) Black-throated Blue Warbler was the first nesting of that
species in Ohio in 80 years.

The Glaciated Allegheny Plateau of the extreme NE part of the state has
unique habitats and so the breeding bird populations are somewhat different
from other areas.

Dark-eyed Juncos are increasingly common nesters. Canada Warblers are
occasional breeders. Blackburnian Warbler is a very very rare nester.
