I had 2 Great Egrets sitting on snags at the bay by Galena on Tuesday Mar 24. They were probably frustrated by the high water, and it doesn't sound like they stuck around or Tom D. would've mentioned them.

The bird was not there when I returned along the same route seven hours later. (I suspect in another few weeks most determined Ohio yearlisters will have notched a great egret but it is a very early date for one in central Ohio. I don't recollect ever having seen an egret standing beside an ice floe.)
