I spent time birding two clusters of parks: one in Gahanna, including GahannaWoods, RathburnWoods, Blacklick cemetery, and BlacklickRidge parks, plus another around Pick Ponds, including Ellis Pond, the Meadowlark Trail, Teal Pond & Wood Duck marsh, and Portman Park. The cold weather has slowed migration, but not stopped it, and the list this morning included:

Dabbling Ducks - small flocks of Wigeon, Gadwall, and Green-winged Teal at several ponds at Pick Ponds
Diving Ducks - 40+ Ring-necks & 2 Lesser Scaup at Pick Ponds, plus 1 Redhead still at Blacklick Ridge Pond
Mergansers - the only ones were several paris of Hooded Mergansers around Teal Pond at Pick Ponds
Mute Swan- 1 was feeding at Teal Pond at Pick Ponds
Other Waterfowl - Pied-billed at many locations around Pick Ponds, along with 50+ Coots around Mallard marsh there.
Osprey - 1 was hunkered down on the nest platform at Arrowhead Marsh at Pick Ponds
Red-shouldered Hawk - an adult was calling at Gahanna Woods, increasing the likelihood of nesting there
E.Phoebe - 1 was foraging around Ellis Pond at Pick Ponds
BrownCreepers - scarce, with only 1 at Portman Park
Golden-cr.Kinglets - small groups at many locations, indicating an early movement of these little sprites
Pipits - 3-4 were around fields near Ellis Pond at Pick Ponds
TreeSparrows - 3 remained around the feeder at Glacier Knoll picnic area at Pick Ponds
Chipping Sparrows - 2 were along the bikepath at Portman Park, my FOS
Fox Sparrow - 1 was singing in Rathburn Woods in Gahanna
White-cr.Sparrow - an immature was around the Glacier Knoll feeder at Pick Ponds
Rusty Blackbirds - 4 were foraging around the southernmost vernal pool at Gahanna Woods along with 5-6 grackles, making for a good comparison.
