Yesterday afternoon I stopped at Hogback Preserve and the nearby basin at the upper end of Alum Creek lake, hoping for an Osprey. In fact, there were 5, calling and squabbling over the nest platforms. They're back in a big way. The low water here has left the basin mostly mudflats, and they sported a flock of 60+ Ring-billed Gulls, plus 4-5 Bonapartes, but there were no waterfowl in the vicinity. The ravines of the Preserve had nothing extraordinary except for 2 E.Phoebes and a pair of Pileated Woodpeckers.
