This afternoon as I was leaving the Dayton airport I saw a sharpie on a kill in the middle of the road leaving the parking area. I watched briefly from a distance as not to flush him (or her). It was on the pavement one foot on the throat of its prey as it was plucking the belly feathers. I couldn't quite tell what kind of bird it was eating, but my best guess based on size and color was either a starling or a robin (all I could see of the prey was a splayed brown wing). Of course, I hope it was a starling. Regardless, it was an awesome, unusual sight to see in the middle of the road.
