After stopping there yesterday and being skunked by thick fog, I spent a bit of this sunny afternoon around the southern Hoover Reservoir. There's still a thick coat of ice across the center of the Reservoir, but there are enough edge openings, as well as a big hole north of Maxtown boat launch, that the waterfowl crowd at the dam spillway has totally cleared out. Notables included:

MuteSwan - 1 was at the Maxtown hole
Canada Geese - none were at the dam, but the maxtown hole had 70+, and there were flyover flocks at several spots.
Mallards - only 2 at the dam, but 80+ were at the Maxtown hole. Who knows how many were at holes further north.
N.Shovelers - still 6 were hanging around the dam spillway
Redheads - 40+ were at the Maxtown hole
Bufflhead - 4 were at the Maxtown hole
Com.Goldeneye - 25+ were at the Maxtown hole
Com.Mergansers - 40+ were at the Maxtown hole, continuing the extraordinary migration for this species in central Ohio
Turkey Vultures - 4 were soaring along the forested ridge east of the dam
Kildeer - 2 were around Maxtown, while 3 were on ice near the dam
Gulls - small groups of Ring-bills in several spots; 8+ Herring were on the ice near the dam
