Ducks returning to Portage Lakes

Yesterday we found most of the Portage Lakes (including Nimisila Reservoir) were still frozen, but found open water at the boat ramp on Cove Blvd at Long Lake outlet.  We found about 200 ducks there including:
30 + hooded mergansers
30 + common mergansers 
15 red-breasted mergansers 
35 + canvasbacks
20 + ring-necked ducks
10 redheads
6 common goldeneyes
6 northern shovelers
2 mute swans
4 Canada geese
6 mallards
1 osprey
