We and our neighbors to the north share a chain of islands that spans
Lake Erie. For idiotic reasons, most maps of these islands are divided
nationally, rather than biologically. These islands are uniquely
attractive to birds--the most recent strange occurrence was of a crested
caracara on a US site last year--and the Canadian peninsula that is part
of the chain has a rich history of Lake Erie birds that is unique.
Alan Wormington compiles yearly compiled reports from observers at Pt.
Pelee each year, and they are very interesting. If nothing else, they
show us the unknown potentials of the island chain for birds. Alan's
announcement, with photos and other details, can be found via the
following detailed report:

"The POINT PELEE BIRD REPORT --- for 2014 --- is now available for viewing.

The report is 14 pages long, and includes 26 photographs of various
rarities seen during the year.

Take note that most of the photographs are high resolution, thus they
can be zoomed in for closer inspection.

The report is hosted by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO), and can
be seen here:
