I made a quick early morning trip to the Confluence and Borrow Pits areas of this south Columbus park. trying to get in between storm fronts. Neotropical migrant #s were good, perhaps better than yesterday, but the scattered showers made birding a challenge. The list for a bit under 2 hours included:

Yellow-billed Cuckoo - 1 calling north of Big Walnut footbridge
Hummingbirds - quite a few (6-7)
Flycatchers - Pewees, Acadian, Gr.Crested widespread; also had Willow & E.Phoebe
Vireos - Red-eyed were everywhere in the forest patches; also had White-eyed, Yellow-throated, and Warbling (3-4)
Swallows - Barn, Tree, Rough-winged
Wrens,Gnatcatchers - lots of House Wrens and Blue-gray Gnatcatchers, but surprisingly few Carolina Wrens (2)
Thrushes - quite a few Wood Thrushes (6-8), and even more Swainson's (12-15)
Mimids - only Gray Catbirds, but they were abundant (25-30+)
Cedar Waxwings - 8-10, mostly in pairs here

Warblers - 17 species, with Redstarts still far & away the most common (18-20). Other widespread species included Magnolia (6-7), ComYellowthroat (5-6), and Wilson's (5-6). Also had Yellow, Parula, Nashville, Tennessee, Black-thr.Blue, Black-thr.Green, Chesnut-sided, Yellow-throated, Prairie (1 singing around Confluence parking area), Blackpoll, Black&White, N.Waterthrush, Canada (1 singing near Big Walnut footbridge)

Sparrows - little other than the expected Field, Chipping, Song
Tanagers,Grosbeaks,Buntings - lots of Indigo Buntings (15+), also had 2 Scarlet Tangers, and 1 Rose-br.Grosbeak
Orioles - singing Baltimores near Borrow Pits, and 1 singing Orchard along Power Line right-of-way east of Confluence area
