I also monitor the FL Listservs, having recently relocated from there.

I'll chime in to say that, as a dedicated eBirder, documenting observations
is something I strive to do as precisely and timely as I can. But life is
hectic, and spending time drafting an email is a bit of a redundancy for me
at times.

Granted--I know it only can take two seconds to whip out an email.

However, an equally elegant solution for people is to set up eBird alerts
for the counties within your travel range, such that you can have the best
of both worlds. Regular notification from eBird as well as monitoring your
favorite ListServ.

There is NO delay in eBird alerts--they come to you whether reviewed or
notp they are marked as Confiemed or Unconfirmed.
