Saw a group of four Common Loons early yesterday morning at Springfield Lake. At first there were only a few sparrows and grackles, then male mallards showed up, then a few ring billed gulls. Then the loons. Watched an adult dive and come up with a mouthful of fish, which it daintily ate. A juvenile was a little bolder, and swam closer, so I got a really good look at him/her. Two women showed up to fish, so the loons swam away across the lake, and I didn't have clear view any more.
