Eastwood is off of Harshman Road near the Airforce Museum in Dayton. There are two entrances off of Huffman Road and one off of Springfield St.. The one with a traffic light on Huffman and the Springfield entrance both lead to the "lagoon side" which stretches between an artificial lagoon and Mad River. The other Harshman entrance leads to the "lake side" which stretches alongside a good sized fishing and boating lake (motor boats are only allowed on the lake on even numbered days so best to go there on an odd day.) This morning we stopped on the lagoon side to see the cliff swallows that nest under the Harshman Rd. bridge over the Mad river and then walked on the lake side.
Birds seen near the Harshman Rd. bridge (a bike trail runs under it beside the river): the nesting cliff swallows, a great blue heron, starlings, a catbird, robins, a female red-winged blackbird, mallards, song sparrows, and a couple of tree swallows.
Birds seen on the lake side: a kingbird, lots of red-winged blackbirds, cowbirds, mourning doves, grackles, one yellow warbler, chimney swifts, cedar waxwings, great-blue herons, a goldfinch, blue-gray gnatcatchers, Carolina chickadees, tree swallows, one or two cliff swallows, and one purple martin.

Blue jays and more catbirds were heard.
