This is not an extraordinary report. I just simply wanted to share what a pleasure it was today to watch a Red-tailed Hawk kiting in the wind over Southwestern Stark County today just a bit north of the Wilderness Center. The bird held it’s position in the sky and appeared to be literally motionless for around a minute or so. It was aerodynamic perfection. It did not appear to be hunting, but rather was just wind surfing. At the risk of a bit of personification, it seemed to be enjoying it as much as I was. I wonder.

Happy birding,

Jon Cefus
