Dear Drifter---
Maybe you signed on to this list when what would be 'life birds' for
you were more likely? We're just entering a time of year when
post-nesting migrants--interesting shorebirds, for example--are just
showing up. Rarities--or at least unusual species--will be reported by
others--who actually go out in the field to find birds on their own,
even if no one gives them directions. You can compare this list with the
other major state/provincial ones--see http://birding.aba.org/ --where
you will see that these and a lot more topics beyond "rare" birds are
covered. If these other topics bore you, seek elsewhere and despair. I
myself learn more about robins every day, and accept that rarities
are--understandably--rare. I learn a lot about birds from folks who post
to this list. I expect they will let others know about rarities. If
rarities are all you are looking for, get ready for them to become less
frequent as you grow older and smarter. Or you could go to another
country where 'life birds' would be EZ2C. There's a lot to learn and
share and enjoy about birds beyond your personal list.
In the meantime, I doubt that this list will deprive you of life birds.
