Pondview Park, part of the Kettering Park Dist., is a little gem of a park tucked into a residential neighborhood at the border between Kettering, 1-675, and Centerville. for such a amall park they've created quite a diversity of habitats - the pond area that gives it its name, woodland trails including a small wetwood, and a prairie. I went there for the first time Sat. to participate in a wildflower walk led by Bob Henn, and we went back this morning for dog walking and birding. The female redstart was in the pond area - probably not a migrant as they nest in our area, but the first warbler I've seen in awhile.
Other birds - blue jays, a downy woodpecker, several flickers, lots of cardinals, only a few robins, Carolina chickadees, a catbird, wood pewees, a house wren, lots of goldfinches, and titmice.
