I have always guessed that they move to the woods to teach their young to forage in a natural setting.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Feeder Birds

Just curious:

In the winter, we have titmice, chickadees, finches, woodpeckers, nuthatches etc at the feeder. In the summer it is mostly the goldfinches and woodpeckers.

What happens to the titmice, nuthatches and chickadees? I don't believe they migrate. Are they just getting food elsewhere and don't need the feeder?

Thanks for any insight
