This evening, I decided to swing by the beach at Alum Creek to see what was present. I was hoping for a Sanderling to show up, but sadly none did. I did, however, stay long enough to watch all of the gulls and terns come in to roost and counted a flock of 47 Caspian Terns consisting of mostly adults with a handful of hatch-year birds mixed in. When I entered the number into my eBird app, it flagged the number as being unusually high. Upon checking eBird, it turns out this is the highest number of Caspians ever recorded at this location. While not necessarily a rare bird, I thought seeing this many at once was pretty noteworthy, especially considering the previously recorded counts in eBird.

Bird on!
