Thursday, Sept. 17 - 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
Viewable from the first parking area overlooking the water:
Bald eagle
DC cormorants
Great egrets
Great blue herons
Green heron
Belted kingfisher
Wood ducks
Mallards
Ring-billed gulls
Blue-winged teals
Cedar waxwings
The following sightings including shorebirds were viewable on the mudflats
at the north end of the "lake":
Peregrine falcon (Has been cruising the mudflats for the last 3 days.
Hoping for a shorebird lunch?) Captured it in the scope this
morning--great view!
Short-billed dowitcher
Lesser and greater yellowlegs
Killdeers
Blue-winged teals
Mallards
Wood ducks
Cedar waxwings
Eastern phoebes
Pileated and red-bellied woodpeckers
Bluejays
Tree swallows
Chimney swifts
Turkey vultures
Great egrets
Great blue herons
North Park:
Bald eagle - imm.
Red-tailed hawk
Turkey vultures
